OHA Staff Participate in NAHRO Emerging L.E.A.D.ership Program
Three members of the Opelika Housing Authority team recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Emerging L.E.A.D.ership Program during the 2026 NAHRO Washington Conference.
FSS Coordinators Kimberley Allen and Stephine Washington, along with YouthBuild (YB) Coordinator Willie Mixon, are part of Cohort 4 of the national leadership program. The initiative is designed to help emerging leaders in the housing and community development field strengthen their leadership and management skills.
The L.E.A.D.ership Program-Learn, Explore, Assess, and Develop- is a six-part training series that combines in-person and virtual learning opportunities. Participants engage in sessions focused on leadership development, effective communication, employee supervision, team building, and strategies for achieving results within housing organizations.
By participating in this national program, Allen, Washington, and Mixon are gaining tools and insights that will help strengthen programs and services for the residents served by the Opelika Housing Authority. Their involvement also allows them to connect with housing professionals from across the country while developing leadership skills that will benefit the agency and community.
