OHA Remembers and Honors Ms. Valestine Penn
We are heartbroken over the passing of Ms. Valestine Penn, a treasured member of the Opelika Housing Authority family. Ms. Penn served as a resident and as President of our Resident Advisory Board for many years. She gave so much of herself to make our community stronger.
In 2024, she was named AAHRA-Alabama Association of Housing & Redevelopment Authorities's Resident Volunteer of the Year. She was always helping her neighbors, organizing events, and supporting everyone around her. Outside of OHA, she was active in her church, the Order of Eastern Star, and the NAACP.
Valestine had a special way of bringing people together and lifting others up. Her kindness, dedication, and care will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed and her memory will live on in all the lives she touched.
