The Opelika Housing Authority (OHA) is proud to have been a sponsor of the Curtis House Greenhouse Project, a community-driven initiative led by the 2024-2025 Class of Opelika's 20 Under 40. OHA contributed $1,000 toward the project, helping bring to life a new space that will provide fresh produce, nutrition education, and food security for more than 150 Opelika families.

The Greenhouse Project, developed as the class's signature community initiative, reflects a shared commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting wellness across Opelika. Through a combination of cash and in-kind donations totaling over $30,000, the 20 Under 40 class transformed an idea into a sustainable resource that will benefit the community for years to come.

The Curtis House, a local nonprofit known for its deep-rooted service and outreach, will use the greenhouse to expand its programming around healthy eating and access to fresh food. The initiative was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought together community leaders, donors, and supporters-including members of the OHA team.

"We believe in supporting initiatives that directly strengthen families and neighborhoods," said Matthew McClammey, Executive Director of the Opelika Housing Authority. "The Curtis House Greenhouse Project aligns with our mission of empowering communities and improving quality of life. We're honored to have played a small role in making this possible."

OHA congratulates The Curtis House, the 20 Under 40 class, and all community partners on this successful project. Together, we are growing more than food-we are growing opportunity, connection, and hope in Opelika.
