YOUTH SERVICES
![]()
Staff and residents are working together to eliminate drugs in OHA's complexes. The Resident Services staff offer a variety of special activities and training for OHA youth. The goal is to provide positive role models and alternatives to drug use and gang involvement.
Attend the monthly meetings of your Resident Association to find out what is going on and how you and your family can participate. You will hear first hand what changes OHA is planning and be able to make your comments.
Meet your neighbors and find out what is happening in your neighborhood. Become involved in the activities and programs offered at your complex.
Much of the drug elimination program is geared to kids and older youth. The Raintree After School, Summer Enrichment, and Summer Youth Employment Programs provide educational, employment training and recreational programs for OHA youth. These include computer literacy, arts, field trips, swimming, skating, bowling, scouting and much more. Call (334)749-5468 to enroll your kids today!
There are many agencies in the area that can provide help. Call OHA's Resident Services Department at (334)749-5468, for confidential referrals or social service assistance.

What is the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program?
![]()
This exciting OHA program is designed to help persons receiving welfare or other assistance become economically self-sufficient within 5 years. Participants set goals for themselves to reach during that time. FSS helps them to develop an action plan to achieve the goals and objectives necessary for economic independence. Participants are connected with the appropriate support services and resources in the community. In return, OHA sets up escrow (savings) accounts for them with a portion of the extra rent they pay when they obtain employment or increases in income. They are eligible for OHA's first-time homebuyer program. If you are interested in participating in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, contact the Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator at (334) 745-4171.
